Welcome to Our Blog PAge
In this blog I will be discussing the pros and cons of having matching you camper/ caravan wheels to your tow vehicle and talking about what I have experienced in the past.
When I started out in the touring and camping scene and whilst in the design stage of our first soft floor camper trailer, I opted to fit 6 stud 80 series Landcruiser rims/ hubs and axle. At that stage I designed the camper to have Vehicle Components Cruisemaster independent swingarm suspension with Airbags for variable load adjustment and having the ability to level camper at a campsite.
I often get asked which form of essential remote travel communication is best for me?. Unfortunately, there isn’t a perfect one stop solution to cover all facets of communication as there are different communication devices for different scenarios. -For General Communication- Vehicle to vehicle communication is a relatively simple solution with the popular Ultra High Frequency (UHF) 2-way radio which can be vehicle mounted or a handheld unit. The vehicle mounted units are traditionally 5-watt units that cover more area and have a longer range (depending on aerial size and the mounted position). Aerial selection usually depends on where you
I’ve been asked many times ‘Why did Toyota program their transmissions to slip so much and create heat which reduces the life of the transmission fluid?’ There may be many reasons why the Toyota Engineers did this but I mainly see it as to keep you going back to Toyota for assistance! Thankfully due to some very clever people, transmission torque converter slippage can be greatly reduced by installing a Torque Converter Lock Up (TCLU) kit. The TCLU kit is designed to apply power to the torque converter lock up solenoid above a selectable speed and not rely on your
Why is my ProVent collecting liquid/water/condensation? Condensation or water can be collected by the ProVent due to the moisture in the vapour coming from the crankcase. Moisture enters the engine as it draws in the air for the combustion cycle and depending on the time of year, and where you live, condensation collection may be evident. Another factor can be your driving style particularly if driving trips are short as the engine doesn’t get hot enough to dry out the moisture due to the stop/ start momentum of city driving. Customers who use their Landcruisers for towing and/ or long
Many people ask me “Why should I fit a catch can to my vehicle?” And the simple answer is that it helps to remove oil that mixes with EGR soot/ sludge that will build up in your engines intake manifold. Now there is a lot to consider when purchasing a ProVent and/or kit including what is the best option for your vehicle. I share this article to help explain the need for a ProVent and why the Xpedition Concepts designed kit should be considered an option in comparison to other products on the market. What is a ProVent catch can?
